ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES? THIS STORY WILL EASE YOUR MIND
When we have money troubles, it often feels as if a mountain has sprung up out of the sea of our life and become this insurmountable obstacle that we must toil about how to overcome. We find ourselves worrying about the future and how we will do this or that (at least I do). And the truth is that all of those feelings are human, normal reactions to the challenges of life; they are what make us a non-robotic being, and I would suggest that these emotions can even be good for a period of time. But, if we allow them to become our central focus, that is when we get into trouble because that’s when the enemy of God has the chance of taking control of our thoughts, our peace and wreaking havoc in our lives.
Allow me to share a short story with you.
Just a bit over a week ago our car’s air conditioner went out and so I took it to the mechanic and had coolant put in it and it ran for a few days but died again. At $80 a pop, there was no way I could just keep putting coolant in it and keep on going. On top of that it was my birthday when it went out along with the temperature that week had topped 100 degrees; it was pure misery driving that car around in the heat.
According to the mechanic the repair to the A/C was $2000 and with the history of this car being what it was, I was nervous about spending that kind of money on it, only to find out in a month that something else was wrong with it. Oh, I should also mention that car was a 5 seat car and the problem with that is that we have 6 people! Poor Branden had to sit crouched on the floor in front of his sister.
We felt hopeless for a time because we didn’t believe that we could get another car but I put our information out on a prompting from I believe the Holy Spirit because I had such peace about it, but even with that peace my mind played with my emotions and so I was still guarded, because I couldn’t see how it could happen. In other words, I was afraid of the possibilities, but:
An act of Faith in doubt is still an act of Faith!
Praise God, not only did we get approved for another car, we got the car with a smaller monthly payment than the one we’d been paying, the interest rate was 12% LESS than our previous car and our insurance somehow went down! Oh and did I mention it’s a 7 seater! God is always good to those who are looking for His goodness.
One last miracle, I found a dealer that bought the broken down car for the exact amount we still owed on the car and all of it, selling the old car and buying the new one happened in just 1 day!
Looking back on it, I believe that God allowed our A/C in the other car to go out because He wanted provide for our needs but He knew that I wouldn’t have tried to upgrade our car unless I had no choice (I’ve become very cheap in my not 20’s).
Could it be that there are times that God wants to increase us, but because of our fear of the unknown we hold onto our circumstances? I know for me that was the case and God has once again proven to me that He cares for me, not just the big things in my life but even about the smallest of things and He cares about you the same way.
I share this story not to brag about how good my life is or I am but to brag about how good God is because I know it was Him that orchestrated it all to work perfectly the way He intended, so I could encourage someone today!
Allow me to leave you with this scripture:
Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
Find God’s blessing and you’ll find your riches…
