I don’t know about anyone else but lately I’ve felt beat down by life. It seems that nearly every conceivable stress that life can dish out manages to find its way into my life with the purpose of mucking up all my plans. I certainly don’t mean to complain but I’m talking about an overwhelming amount of misery; a death, health issues, financial concerns, car problems, house problems, people lying and spreading rumors about me, friends turning their backs; I mean for Pete’s sake I feel like I should change my name to Job!!
Have you ever felt that way?
Well, I’m certainly glad to see that I’m not the only one! Life has a way of reminding us how little control we actually have by trying to burden us with stressful issues. But… I have found the cure to the miseries of life and people.
The cure is FAITH & LOVE!
Life is far too short to allow all of our time to be stolen by things out of our control. But there is one thing I can control and that’s how much I show love to others and receive love from those who freely give it to me.
In the Bible, the Disciples were instructed by Jesus to go to a town and if they were received by the town to stay and to minister, but if they were rejected Jesus instructed them to knock the dust from their shoes as they left that town.
That says to me that we don’t have to deal with things and people who reject us or try to control circumstances that we aren’t capable of controlling.
On the other hand Jesus instructed His Disciples and in that us to love; and why?
Because it’s something we can easily control; it’s not difficult to love people because it’s just putting people ahead of ourselves, demonstrating that we care for them just like Jesus cares for them.
And as for the circumstances that are out of our control; well, it’s best that we recognize that they are out of our control and leave them to God to deal with (of course, I completely understand that is FAR easier said than done!).
With that said, let me encourage you today that regardless of our circumstances God has promised us that He’d provide all that we need, when we need it and it’s up to us to trust Him enough to be on time, every time! Just know that we are all in this thing called life together and you are not alone!
