Know Your Destination; Find Your Destiny
There are seasons in our lives where confusion sets in and we just aren’t sure…of anything really. Things happen that make us question earlier realizations and obvious truths about the plans that we made and the destiny we, at one time, were certain of. Often we want God to tell us what His plan is or why we’re experiencing such difficulty.
If God showed you His entire plan many of us would be frightened into stagnation. God gives us the destination and leads us to that destination through the Holy Spirit. It’s the same as if I lived in Maine and wanted to get in a car and road trip to San Diego, California. There are so many ways to get to San Diego from Maine I’m not certain that I could get there alone. Of course, today I would just get in the car, turn on the GPS and head in the general direction of California.
Along the way the GPS will give me point by point instructions on which way to go. Turn left here; enter the freeway at this particular point. If for some reason I miss a particular instruction, the GPS will recalibrate and come up with a slightly modified plan to get me back on track. What never changes is my destination; I started out headed toward San Diego and even if I make a million mistakes, that GPS will find a way to get me back on track so I end my journey at my original destination.
God planted the desire in your heart that is your destiny, your individualized destination based on His plan for your life. He sent the Holy Spirit to provide the GPS guidance that we need. We only need to follow that guidance so we can arrive at our destination. However, if we never turn up the volume on the GPS its effectiveness is seriously diminished and we’ll likely never reach our destination. The same is true if we never listen to the Holy Spirit; He may be telling us what to do next but because we’ve tuned Him out we wander aimlessly toward our destiny. Although some may accidentally run into it, many will never arrive because they didn’t have guidance.
The Holy Spirit is that little voice in the pit of your stomach that nudges you ever so slightly. If we can train ourselves to hear that guidance it will be very difficult to get lost. I am going to make it a point from this day on to turn up the volume and receive as much guidance from God as He is willing to give. He’ll never lead you to a place where you won’t find victory even if you find some difficulties along the way.
