Uncovering God’s Plan For Your Life
You know, I have to say: I am a firm believer that God has a designed plan for each one of us; a true destiny carved into the pages of time that has our name written on it; stamped with the seal of the King of kings. But, sometimes I wonder why more people don’t fulfill their God given destiny and instead opt for a mediocre and largely unfulfilled existence.
To get to the answer to that question I would say we’d have to move past the surface reflections such as what gifts or talents one may or may not possess. Or what opportunities a person had or didn’t have growing up. No, achieving our personal destiny isn’t based on circumstance or challenge. If that were true, a poor person could never become rich, nor could an abused person ever overcome that abuse and live to help others.
Destiny, is a choice to ignore our circumstances and a decision to overcome our challenges by relying firmly on our Faith. And Faith, is not much more than an inner knowing that God is the director of our movie, the one where we are the main character and the one who wrote the script that defines who we become not necessarily who we are now.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has a plan and that His plan is for our good, our future and brings us hope. Hope is the core ingredient to Faith according to Hebrews 11:1 and without hope you cannot have Faith because it is its very essence.
And what about the bad things in our lives?
In the same way we choose to live out our destiny, we choose how we see the challenges of life; I choose to see my challenges as character building moments; nothing more. And, to clear up any confusion, I’ve seen my share of turmoil and pain in my life, as I’m sure that many of you have. (I’ll share my personal story soon enough). But, what good does it serve, honestly, to focus all your attention on what’s bad in life, instead of what you can overcome in life?
So, what I’ve uncovered about my destiny is that it requires me to have hope. That hope leads to an increasing Faith that God’s plan for my life, not only exists, but that I’m acting out that plan every moment of every day of my life. And, in the end when I look back, I can say with a smile that I did everything I could to be the man that God created me to be.
I know my history and where I come from and, let me assure you, if God has a plan for me, then He is certain to have one for you. I do hope that you grab hold of that hope and never let it go.
Until we meet again, I pray God’s hand of favor over your life and a peace that surpasses all understanding.
